Next to Delos, the most sacred place of antiquity and 150 Km south east of Athens in the centre of the Aegean lies Mykonos one of the most cosmopolitan holiday resorts of the Mediterranean if not of the whole world. Many intellectuals, well-known artists, politicians, celebrities from all over the world prefer Mykonos for their vacation.

The heart of Mykonos is the capital Hora. Hora is just the right size to keep you interested. It has something for every one . Along the pleasant narrow, cobble - painted streets stand two - story whitewashed homes and shops with brightly coloured wooden doors and windows. Streets ones designed to confuse pirates in the 16th century today wind attractively through fashionable boutiques, pretty tavernas , little churches and chapels offering lovely promenades to the vacationer. Lined with numerous cafes, the harbour and its esplanade, is just the perfect spot for somebody to meet friends and relax in the cool of the evening. The famous and traditional cafe-bars situated in Little Venice offer an enjoyable sunset.

Mykonos is well known for its sophisticated nightlife. The variety of night clubs, bars and discos is incredible. When the sun sets the town's tiny streets are buzzing till the morning.

The countryside of the island is a mixture of grey-green rocks and little fertile areas covered with wild flowers. Here and there scattered in the rocky terrain, tiny whitewashed chapels with red domes, windmills , old cottage houses and small pigeon-lofts.

The dentelated coast of the island offers a variety of beautiful sandy beaches, busy ones and quiet ones, with crystal-clear blue waters. Elia, Panormos, Agios Stefanos, Psarou, Kalo Livadi, Paradise and Ornos are the most popular.

Mykonos is an island with plenty to do by day and by night, for those who are looking for a lively time. Yet those looking for more peaceful vacations, can still find hidden corners to relax, especially when visiting the island other months than July and August. The enchanting environment and the friendly and easy-going people of Mykonos will charm you and make you return to the island...

Delos is a small island just 20 minutes boat ride from Mykonos. Despite its size Delos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. For a thousand years or so, after the ninth century BC, it has been the political and religious center of the Aegean. According to mythology, Leto, pursued by Hera, found refuge on a floating rocky island, which Poseidon then anchored to the sea bottom with pillars of granite. Here, under the palm, she bore to Zeus the twins Apollo and Artemis.

Today the island is uninhabited. The archaeological site covers almost the entire island with superb monuments. There is also a museum with sculptures of the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods which worths visiting.
